“I grew up with a single mom and two brothers and we always struggled to get by.
We did the best we could with what we had, so I know what it’s like to not have anything.
As I got older I made sure to give in any way that I could to those in need.
I’ve always helped at shelters and soup kitchens by cooking meals for those that were hungry.
When the opportunity came up to raise money and help those in need, my friends and I did what we could during the holidays.
My friend Tito started a non-profit organization (7) seven years ago, The Local Hearts Foundation, located by Long Beach, California.
Tito asked me to work with my connections from work and see if help would be provided to deliver turkeys and give to those families in need. It has been a great experience to see people so grateful for receiving a meal for their family. There is no better feeling then to know in some way that I helped and with UFCW Local 2013 helping us along the way has been so awesome. I am so grateful to be part of UFCW Local 2013 Family.”

“At UFCW Local 2013 we try hard to give back and contribute to our communities when & where we can; but more than anything else, it’s where our Leadership team and members get involved in our communities that make the true difference. This story highlights just one of MANY examples over the years where our individual and organizational efforts can make a difference and through the generosity of our members giving of their time and service we are able to touch the lives of co-workers; our Union Brothers & Sisters and their families; and the community at large in order to make a difference in people’s lives.
Thank you to ALL of our Local 2013 members, our staff, and our Executive Board for their dedication to making a difference!
On behalf of everyone at UFCW Local 2013, we wish EVERYONE the best as we approach the Holiday Season!”
